Professional Learning

BCPCS is proud to offer pre-service educator workshops across the state, focusing on computer science standards and effective classroom integration. Thanks to the generous support of our partners, including the Indiana Department of Education and Nextech, we are able to provide these workshops at no cost to your school. In addition, we offer a stipend for workshop organizers and incentives for attendees.

Since the beginning of the program, we have visited 11 universities and conducted 28 professional development workshops, reaching over 600 pre-service teachers and 33 faculty members. We have also engaged with in-service educators through presentations at the Indiana Connected Educators Conference and collaborations with the Indiana Learning Lab.

Option 1: Professional Learning Workshop

The CS Education team from IUB will deliver an immersive professional learning workshop for your pre-service teachers in a 3- or 6-hour block on a school-day or weekend day, on your campus.

What’s included in Workshops:

Incentive for attendees ($100 per 3-hours – workshop must occur outside of class time)

Stipend for organizing preservice teacher educator

Access to resources and accompanying curriculum

Format:

Workshop length can be full-day, half-day, or half day AM & half day PM.

You collaborate with IU CS Education team to finalize workshop content and logistics.

Feb. 2nd, 2024 at University of St. Francis

Feb. 13th, 2024 at Vincennces Univeristy

Option 2: In-Class Visit

The CS Education team from IU will visit your pre-service class (in-person or virtually) for a “taste” of computer science based on topics relevant to your course.
